Ics File Download Not Adding To Ios Calendar

unable to correctly import .ics file on desktop

Hi there, Thunderbird 78.5.0 on Win 10 Pro. In the past I used to drag and drop downloaded .ics files to Events and Tasks sidebar in order to load events onto Thunderbird. After update this won't work anymore as the file is seen as an event attachment (somehow "nested" into the event itself, see attached image). When I try to open the ICS file instead, the Import Event button produces no effect (no event loaed in the calendar view) while the Import All shows a generic import failed error (2nd attachment). Any idea on what's happening? Many thanks!

Chosen solution

If you're trying to import the .ics file into a network calendar, then this is a known problem. A workaround is to import the file into a local calendar, and then move the event to the desired network calendar. Obviously this isn't suitable for a larger no. of events. A fix for this will hopefully land in one of the next TB updates.

Thanks! A bit cumbersome I must say but it perfectly works...

Drag and drop of .ics file onto calendar pane opens a new event window that shows empty fields. The calendar is local, not on the network. Calendar is enabled in Permissons menu (R click on calendar name) in Calendar tab/window. This operation worked before upgrade to TB 78.4.0 from openSuse. Lightning is now completely manual and it is tedious to add an event. Am I missing something?

Following that link, and earlier searching around the Thunderbird section, I see no way to post a new question. That's why I added my question to an existing post. Tried in both Firefox and Chromium (openSuse Linux 15.1). Briefly saw an "ask a question" button, but clicking there started the same cycle again. NoScript says the page is privileged and its permissions can't be configured. Privacy badger says there are no tracking cookies. What's up?

konsultor Follow the link - click on 'Thunderbird' option and then top right under 'Ask the community' - click on the 'Ask Now' button. Or use this link https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/thunderbird and click on 'Ask Now'.

I have the same problem, automatic import does not work for collection of dates.

my workaround was to import manually and start with the last date first, then it worked.
